Tokyo . Former Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Ek Nath Dhakal discussed with Mr. Iwai Kentaro, Mayor of Tomioka city, Japan. Former lawmaker Dhakal briefed about Nepal’s successful peace process, new constitution and recent elections to the Mayor and other officials gathered at the meeting. Dhakal explained that current Nepal government led by Prime Minister KP Oli put economic agendas on the top priority and asked Mayor to encourage Japanese investors to invest in Nepal. Mayor Kentaro explained about the historical importance of Tomioka Silk Mill that started as a pioneer industry of Japan from 1872 from his city and now it is listed as one of the UNESCO world heritage sites. Tomioka Silk Mill greatly contributed not only to the modernization of Silk industry but, that of Japan as whole. Mayor showed his interest about the development of possible silk industries in Nepal said Mr. Santosh Paudel who was present at the meeting. Mayor Kentaro is happy to see many positive developments in Nepal and wishes for political stability and rapid economic development of Nepal. Dhakal also discussed with the president of Takei Silk Industry of Japan separately. Dhakal is visiting Japan for his four days trip along with his spouse .
