Kathmandu . College Chef Icon a reality show, sponsored by Sagtani Group will be launched on Nepal Television from Jestha 15th, every Saturday afternoon from 3.05pm till 3.55pm. This was announced amid a press conference today at Mela Resturant. The organizers expect young budding chefs to come out and expose their talents in preparing different delicacies.

The main objective of the reality show is to promote Nepali deliciaes both in the national front as well as around the globe. Nepali dishes which are unique in its kind have not received exposure which the organizers believe that this reality show will serve the purpose to a certain extent.

The 50 minutes program will have aspiring chefs showcasing their cooking talents in different categories like
1)Nepal Heritage Dish
2) Dish of the indigenous people the Adivasis
3) Continental and Italian dish
4) Indian Dish
5) Chinese Dish

The selection criteria will be mainly on the basis of quality of the delicacies. Hotel Management colleges have been invited to participate. So far 15 Hotel Management Colleges have registered themselves for the competition, however the organizers anticipate more colleges to join by the time the Show will go on air.

This initiative has been taken by a group of highly experienced Chefs from 5 star hotels and instructors of Hotel Management colleges. According to the press release the names of seven judges for the show are: Suresh Chandra Basnet, Surya Kiran Shrestha, Shree Ram Adhikari, Laxman Prasad Bhandari, Dr Sanjay Jamml, Yubraj Pokhrel and Krishna Kaji Shrestha.

The reality cooking show will consist of 7 episodes of which 2 rounds will be audition round and 1 episode will be the final round. In between the competition rounds will be on air.

The judges feel that this reality show should be taken more of an opportunity rather than a competition.
